About

While many species of wildlife are welcome visitors to our properties, some may become a nuisance. Preventing problems with wildlife is simpler, and often cheaper, than dealing with wildlife damage. Fortunately, taking a few simple steps can help you prevent many of the most common wildlife-related problems, and this site will walk you through those. In cases where you need help with damage that has already occurred, this site shares proven methods can be used to solve problems with wildlife.

Funding

The Wildlife Illinois website was authorized by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) in partial fulfillment of project W-147-T. The website was developed by the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center and the IDNR in partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Wildlife Services and University of Illinois Extension in order to provide residents of Illinois with research-based information about how to coexist with Illinois’ wildlife, especially in urban areas.
